How about we go through the requirements for undergraduate screening?
There are certain credentials whose copies need to be submitted to the school, through the “screening portal” by every successfully admitted candidate. This applies to both UTME and Direct-Entry undergraduate aspirants.
JAMB Admission Letter:
This is printed from the candidates’ portal on the JAMB portal by logging in with each candidate’s details. Before then, candidates are required to accept the admission on JAMB’s CAP’S in order to enable the university know that the candidate is willing and ready.
BUK Unofficial Admission Letter:
A candidate who has been offered admission into BUK can print an unofficial admission letter from the University’s Screening Portal provided to his/her details. Upon presentation during screening, a glossy official admission letter is given to the student.
JAMB Acknowledgement Slip and BUK Acknowledgement Slip (Direct Entry Candidates):
Direct Entry candidates are expected to present copies of acknowledgement slips from both JAMB and BUK during screening.
JAMB Result Slip (UTME Candidates):
UTME Candidates are expected to present their JAMB certificates showing a breakdown of their UTME scores and it also entails the candidate datails and passport ,which is gotten from the jamb portal .
A Level Statement of Result (Direct Entry Candidates Only):
As part of the requirements for Direct Entry, candidates must possess A-level certificates for either of the following:
- OND (with merit)
- NCE or IJMB (with a minimum of 8 points)
- GCE ‘A’ Level (3 credits)
- HND (Pass)
O Level Statement of Result and Online print (SSCE)
Printouts of school-leaving certificates (WASSCE, NECO or their equivalent) are major requirements for successful admission into the university. Candidates need to possess a minimum of 5 credits including Mathematics and English along with relevant subjects to their applied courses obtained in not more than 2 sittings.
Primary School Leaving Certificate/Testimonial
Though these are sometimes viewed as optional, they’re important credentials that would probably be required sooner or later. For example, they’re required during departmental and faculty documentations.
Birth Certificate/Declaration of Age
Proof of a candidate’s date of birth in the form of a birth certificate or a legal declaration of age is also a screening requirement. Therefore, candidates who have no official birth certificates should get legal documents stating the dates of birth appearing on their credentials from legal courts around them.
Indigene Certificate
In addition to birth certificates, candidates should also possess certificates confirming their states and local governments of origin. This serves as a proof of citizenship of their claimed locality.
Completed Undertaking Form
Freshly admitted candidates are required to take up an undertaking to be of good character and dedication to learning while being students of the university. Therefore, an undertaking form signed by them is needed.
Evidence of Payment of Acceptance Fees
An amount termed as ‘Acceptance Fees’ is meant to be paid by all students who accept the admission offered by BUK. Acceptance fee of Ten Thousand naira (N10,000.00) is reflected on student’s BUKPPF, to be paid using Remita e-Payments and e-Collection platforms (2020/2021 Registration). Evidence of payment (receipt) is to be submitted during screening.
Certificate of Medical fitness
Newly admitted candidates are expected to go for medical checkup whereupon a medical certificate stating the level of fitness of the students is issued. This is very important as it helps in identifying sick students or students with deformities who are in need of special assistance during the course of their study.
Two (2) Recent Passport Photographs
Admitted candidates should go along with at least two recent passport photographs for identification. The photographs are also usually affixed to students’ files during documentation.
2020/2021 REGISTRATION SESSION
Due to the covid-19 pandemic measure ,Screening process for this year is online using the provided screening system. The University will not conduct physical screening exercise for freshly admitted students this year, but rather will conduct an Online Screening exercise starting from 7th July, 2021. The candidates can screen from their respective states of origin. No need to come to BUK.
NOTES on BUK Undergraduate Requirements
It should be noted that it is a requirement for DE Applicants to possess all the necessary ‘O’ Level requirements applicable to regular full time undergraduate admissions. This implies that credit in English is compulsory for all courses while Mathematics is necessary for pure science based courses and some social or management sciences.
Also, when it’s time for registration, additional processes are followed. The registration exercise can be broadly classified into online and offline registration, where the offline registration is usually done at faculty and departmental levels. Stay tuned for more updates.
