Description

Abstract

This report covers the period of stay and activities carried out in the SIWES program for three months at technology incubation center Kano, during which I was attached to Jameel Electronics.

This report can be of great help to students who may wish to undertake their training in a similar establishment and to any reader or researcher who is most likely to gain one or two things from my experience.

We explored the algorithm of designing electronic circuits whereby small circuits are integrated to become one and the functions of components are combined to perform a single task.  This approach was seen as a way to break down complexity into simplicity by representing a large unit as a set of smaller units.

The switching action of a transistor coupled to a relay made it possible to switch different parts of a circuit that can be operated by different voltages. The mechanism by which relay opens and closes is however not suitable for digital circuits operation and as such, powerful semiconductor devices are used in digital circuits.

Feedback in control systems are usually provided by means of transducers which control the desired response at the output by providing an error signal at the input. This was seen when we constructed an automatic light controller using a Light Dependent Resistor and a potentiometer.

One of the most important skills in electronics is troubleshooting and was an experience I acquired at Jameel Electronics using adequate tools and excellent procedures.

This report can be of great help to students who may wish to undertake their training in a similar establishment and to any reader or researcher who is most likely to gain one or two things from my experience.
